School District 51

  • Drama Header

Our Drama program is a unique, special opportunity for our students to learn to act and perform onstage before they reach High School!  Drama students meet for one hour every day to work on performance skills such as auditioning for plays, performing monologues and scenes, improvisation techniques, understanding of theatre history and a variety of different styles of theatre, playwriting, acting, directing, and more!  Creativity and individuality in Drama is highly encouraged for students of all skill and comfort levels.  Students can expect to perform in at least one play as a class each semester as well as other performances of scenes, student-directed work, their own plays, and more!

Community Performances

We love to cultivate relationships within our community!  Our Choirs travel to local Retirement Homes to Christmas carol every year.  Our Drama Classes and Drama Club have performed all over town!  Most recently, our Fall 2016 Drama Class partnered with KAFM Public Radio to perform their winter play onstage at the Radio Room.  We collected items for Homeward Bound of the Grand Valley as an admission fee to the play.  The Drama Class donated almost 3000 items to Homeward Bound in time for Christmas!
